BIOGRAPHY

 

Edward Rosset was born in Spain in 1938, of English father and Spanish mother. He studies in La Salle College in San Sebastian.

At the age of 18 a sudden downfall in the family business forces him to emigrate to France where he works as a docker, wood cutter, in a sawmill, etc. His adventurous spirit impels him to get a job in a Panamenian cargo; after that, he joins a Norwegian ship, and finally, he sails in a Swedish tanker to the Persian Gulf.

Shortly after that he is called to do his National Service in Great Britain. He joins the R.A.F. as a wireless operator. He is posted to Libya where he spends two years in the desert base of El Adem, near Tobruk.

And it is in Libya, with a lot of time in his hands that he continues his studies and reads -all the books in the library during his night watches. At the same time, he begins to write short stories and true-life stories. Some of them are published in magazines such as Weekend and newspapers like the Evening News.

After living a few years in London he moves to Spain where he becomes an English teacher.

Years later, as the head of a private language school, Edward Rosset, member of the Bachelor of Arts Association of the Basque Country, starts a Publishing House. In 1985 Editorial Stanley publishes books for language teaching. He himself is the author of many of the books. In fact, he has written well over two hundred books, both in English and in Spanish.

In 1998, Edward Rosset starts writing about what he really loves: historical novel. That year he publishes his first novel in Spanish Los Navegantes. That is quickly followed by Invasión, El Estratega Cartaginés (Hannibal) and the La Conquista del Amazonas (The Conquest of the Amazon).

In the year 2000 Editorial Edhasa publishes an 850-page book with the story of Magellan and the first voyage round the world ended by Elcano, as well as the conquest of the Philippines by Legazpi.

In the year 2002 Edhasa publishes Rumbo a Cipango (Bound for Cipango), the story of Christopher Columbus, 575 pages.

In 2004 Edhasa publishes Malinche, the conquest of Mexico by Hernán Cortés.

In the same year, Editorial Mundo Conocido publishes a biography of the famous singer Luis Mariano .y en Irún nació un príncipe (a prince was born in Irún)

In 2005 Mundo Conocido publishes Los Viracochas, the conquest of Peru by Francisco Pizarro.

In March 2005 Edward Rosset is finalist of 'Premio Azorín' with Esclava Blanca (White Slave)

In May 2005 Edward Rosset is second in 'Premio Fernando Lara' with Emigrantes (Emigrants)
